In 1994, the IMF began rewarding leading myeloma experts Brian D. Novis Research Grants. These grants promote research for better myeloma treatments, management, prevention, and a cure.
In 2000, the IMF initiated the annual Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award. The award pays tribute to the respected myeloma physician, educator, and leader. To this day, the award annually recognizes an outstanding researcher in the field.
As of June 2018, the IMF presented the first Dr. Brian G.M. Durie Outstanding Achievement Award. Named for IMF Chairman Emeritus and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Brian Durie, this award recognizes excellence in multiple myeloma research.
