IMF Research Awards
As a global organization, the IMF’s focus has never been singular. While patient-focus is at the center of all we do, recognizing and supporting leading myeloma researchers upholds our mission of Accelerating the prevention and cure of myeloma and improving the quality of life for patients and families. In 2000, the IMF initiated the annual Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award. The award pays tribute to the respected myeloma physician, educator, and leader. To this day, the award annually recognizes an outstanding researcher in the field.
As of June 2018, the IMF presented the first Dr. Brian G.M. Durie Outstanding Achievement Award. Named for IMF Co-Founder Dr. Brian Durie (1942-2025), this award recognizes excellence in multiple myeloma research.
From 1995 to 2025, the IMF awarded the Brian D. Novis Research Grants in memory of its co-founder. Awarded annually, the grants promoted research into all areas of myeloma in an effort to improve patient outcomes. To date, the IMF has funded more than 100 of these grants.
