Nikhil Munshi, MD
Dr. Nikhil Munshi is a world-renowned leader in translational research for multiple myeloma. He is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, holding the Kraft Family Chair, and serves as Director of Basic and Correlative Science and Associate Director of the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Munshi’s pioneering research focuses on genomic changes and molecular mechanisms driving genomic instability in cancer, advancing diagnostics, prognostics, and therapeutics. He has developed innovative approaches in integrative oncogenomics, RNA-based therapies, and antigen-directed immunotherapies, including CAR T-cell therapy. His work bridges the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications, enhancing patient outcomes through groundbreaking clinical trials.
With over 600 peer-reviewed publications and mentorship of more than 80 emerging scientists and clinicians, Dr. Munshi has significantly shaped the field. He is the immediate past President of the International Myeloma Society and a key member of the International Myeloma Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board. His accolades include the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, the IMF Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Giants of Cancer Care Award. As co-chair of the IMF i2TEAMM initiative, he leads efforts to establish minimal residual disease (MRD) as a critical marker for drug development, accelerating advancements in myeloma treatment.
