On October 15, 2019, the International Myeloma Foundation’s Advocacy Team hosted the first-ever “All Cancers Congress” at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C..
The event gave the cancer advocacy community a chance to discuss their individual advocacy efforts and legislative priorities. It ultimately gave attendees the opportunity to come together to foster collaboration.  The event was widely attended with 17 different organizations participating.
IMF’s Director of Public Policy and Advocacy, Ray Wezik discovered that efforts to advance cancer advocacy have been disjointed in the past upon learning of several groups dedicating time and resources towards similar projects without foreknowledge of those efforts.  Ray said of the event, “The All Cancers Congress was developed to bring groups together to prevent advocates from working in silos and encourage teamwork. The event gave advocacy groups a rare opportunity to come together and acted as an open forum for discussion. We have received a lot of positive feedback from the attendees and many have discovered previously unknown avenues for collaboration.”
