Are you hosting an event to celebrate a milestone occasion – birthday, wedding, anniversary, retirement, baby or wedding shower? Let the IMF be part of your celebration, by adding a public awareness and fundraising for research element to it. Once we hear your idea, we can come up with a creative and fun way for us to work together to support our mutual cause – the best gift of all – a cure for myeloma!
We’ve even held “virtual” celebrations on our website for those who don’t actually want to hold an event! We will provide you with tip cards and myeloma awareness wristbands and other IMF swag, the IMF banner to hang at your event. You Can Also Opt to Set Up a Facebook Fundraiser
Social media is a quick and accessible way to make a difference. If you are on Facebook, you may have noticed that your Friends sometimes fundraise for their organizations of choice. Perhaps you too want to start such a fundraiser, but don’t know how. This article provides easy steps for you to use Facebook to fundraise.
Starting a fundraiser on Facebook is much easier than it seems. Fundraisers can be made on individual profiles, pages for verified public figures, pages for verified brands and pages for verified nonprofits. Facebook provides these step-by-step instructions to set up a fundraiser.
2. Donating your birthday or anniversary to the IMF
This feature allows you to ask people to donate to the IMF in honor of your birthday or anniversary. However, keep in mind that only certain locations in the world have this feature, including the US. The following is a visual guide and basic instructions to help set up this donation opportunity.

Then select “Raise Money for a Nonprofit Organization.” -
Choose the International Myeloma Foundation from the drop-down.

Choose your fundraising goal and the end date for your fundraiser.

Either use Facebook’s default message or customize your own message for Facebook Friends to read about your fundraiser.

Pick a cover photo.

It is now set up! To share with more friends and on different social media accounts, you can invite friends on Facebook to donate or use the available fundraiser link option.
By using Facebook to create awareness of multiple myeloma and raise funds to help the IMF’s mission, you are being an active part of change and finding the cure.
Facebook does not collect any of the donations you give when giving to the IMF, so all your donations directly support IMF programs in research, support, education, and advocacy.
