Cellular RNA can serve as precursor for proteins or as effector molecule with active role in malignant transformation. We have discovered an RNA molecule (RROL) promoting the synthesis of lipids in multiple myeloma (MM) cells; these lipids can in turn be used as energy storage, for the synthesis of cellular membranes or to regulate the molecular signaling. We hypothesize that, in doing so, RROL cooperate with oncogenic proteins forming a novel discovered RNA‐protein complex. We propose to investigate the molecular mechanism of RROL to inform the development of clinically applicable novel therapeutic approaches for translation to clinical trials.
