  • Spreading Myeloma Awareness in Jamaica

Multiple Myeloma (MM), a cancer of the bone marrow, is the second most common blood cancer that is quite often misdiagnosed. In fact, the majority of patients have never heard of it until they are told they have the disease.

“The incidence of myeloma is growing; it appears to be mushrooming, so it is very important that we bring attention to this and apply some urgency to bringing much needed awareness,” Monica Taylor, chairperson of Jamaica Multiple Myeloma Support Group, told Health.

  • Myeloma Awareness activities in Jamaica

Some members of the Jamaica Multiple Myeloma Support Group celebrated Myeloma Awareness Sunday at the Providence Methodist Church on March 23 and Monica Taylor, Jamaica MM Support Group leader, was invited to address the Rotary Club of Kingston East and Port Royal (District 7020) on March 24.

Jamaica MM Support Group leader Monica Taylor interviewed by Sharon Duffus-Grant of TBC Radio, Kingston, Jamaica aired Friday March 21.
