Thanks to the Philadelphia support room grant of $300 we will have a projector for future meetings. This will allow us the opportunity to access important myeloma presentations.  In addition,  it will allow us the opportunity to access important speakers from around the country live. We will be using it to access famed myeloma doctor Dr. Berenson from Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles for our April 2014 meeting.

In late August, I got an extra day — just an average day — with my father.

At 82, my dad had a whole litany of ailments: a bad heart, inferior lungs, failing eyesight, some skin cancer and a pesky wound on his leg that just wouldn’t heal. So, at the last minute, a day after my mother’s birthday, I detoured from a business trip over to Tampa to see them.

Another major loss in the myeloma world. Dr. Arnold Goodman was an inspiration to all of us myeloma patients. I met him several times and he spoke at our group, last year. He was a fighter and this is a terrible loss.

His columns in the Myeloma Beacon were truly inspirational.
