Send a Message to Congress About Cancer Drug Parity

On Wednesday, June 12th, the Coalition to Improve Access to Cancer Care (CIACC) will visit Capitol Hill. The CIACC will meet with congressional members and their staff to ask for their support of the Cancer Drug Parity Act of 2019. The Act corrects a disparity in insurance benefit design for commercial plans. Patients on oral or self-administered anticancer medication face more expensive cost-sharing than those on traditional IV therapies. Yet, the costs for both types of treatments are relatively the same to insurance companies. This bill could greatly help myeloma patients on oral chemotherapy medications. It would reduce those patients' out-of-pocket costs for their drugs.

Last congress, identical legislation in the House ended with 175 co-sponsors. Our hope is to surpass this in the 116th congress. To accomplish this goal, the International Myeloma Foundation, which leads the CIACC, asks for your help to amplify our efforts during our Hill day. Send a message to Congress about your support for oral parity at the link below.
