New IMF Research Partnership Examines Role of Gene Mutations in Patient Treatment and Outcomes

The IMF and AbbVie are conducting what IMF Chairman Dr. Brian G.M. Durie calls “the largest, most comprehensive chart-review study of myeloma patients with the t(11;14) translocation.” Therapy targeting this group should, he says, significantly contribute to improved outcomes.

New Medicare Cards Coming Soon: What You Need to Know

Until now, Medicare cards have included each beneficiary’s Social Security Number. The practice of listing these numbers has been problematic to Medicare beneficiaries and has opened them up to fraud and identity theft. That is why Medicare will be issuing new cards to beneficiaries with randomized numbers in place of their Social Security Numbers.
Beginning in April, the new Medicare cards will be mailed to recipients. Medicare members will receive these cards at different times, based on the state where an individual resides. When your new card arrives, the Office of the Inspector General advises recipients to safely and securely destroy their current Medicare card that lists their Social Security number and keep their new card numbers confidential.
