Myeloma Minute: The New Future for Myeloma Patients

The New Future for Myeloma Patients

As the dust settles from all the activity surrounding new drug approvals and the potential for further approvals, it is time to reflect on what the future holds for myeloma patients, says IMF Chairman Dr. Brian Durie in his blog this week. “The vast majority of patients will achieve excellent, deep responses with initial therapy,” he writes. Paddle to Battle Multiple Myeloma: 21st Century Frontiersman's Kayak Crusade Supports IMF Research

John Taussig will kayak up the Inside Passage, a water route that weaves through a maze of islands starting at Puget Sound in Washington State and extending north along the British Columbia Coast to the Alaska Panhandle. His journey, which will begin on August 9th, is to raise awareness and money to support IMF’s research program. Taussig is the founder of the nonprofit Backcountry Medical Guides, which focuses on wilderness, maritime, and remote emergency medicine. John’s travels up the Inland Passage mark a couple of firsts: this is his first kayak journey along this path, and it is also his first major endeavor to raise money in honor of two family members—his mother Anne and his uncle Tom, both recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Impressed by John’s initiative, a generous donor has offered to match all donations to Paddle to Battle Multiple Myeloma dollar for dollar. Please support John’s extraordinary efforts, click HERE.
