IMWG Member Co-Authors a Study on Early Immune System Changes in the Development of Multiple Myeloma

The IMF’s International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) Member Dr. Irene Ghobrial has conducted research in collaboration with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) about immune system changes that occur in the early in the development of multiple myeloma. And This Too Shall Pass…
Takeda Expands Patient Assistance

Once again, the IMF is hosting a raffle for a 10-day stay at the Villa Ono Oasis in historic Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. While many of us have been affected by COVID-19, we hope to remind you that this too shall pass. If you purchase the winning $50 raffle ticket, you could find yourself sipping a tropical beverage next to a private pool, just minutes from the Hawaiian coastline.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Takeda has expanded its patient assistance by implementing a Job Loss Provision to help patients who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19, enhancing free drug programs, adding virtual training for nurses, and more.

Sanofi and GSK Partner to Develop a Vaccine to Fight COVID-19

Sanofi and GSK “have signed a letter of intent to develop an adjuvanted vaccine for COVID-19, using innovative technology from both companies, to help address the ongoing pandemic. Sanofi will contribute its S-protein COVID-19 antigen, which is based on recombinant DNA technology. This technology has produced an exact genetic match to proteins found on the surface of the virus, and the DNA sequence encoding this antigen has been combined into the DNA of the baculovirus expression platform, the basis of Sanofi’s licensed recombinant influenza product in the U.S.”

Bipartisan Group of Senators Advocate for Cancer Drug Parity During Pandemic

Senator Smith (D-MN) and Senator Moran (R-KS) led a bipartisan group of their colleagues in sending a letter to Congressional Leadership late last week. The letter highlights the importance of patient access to oral cancer medications during the COVID-19 pandemic and requests that the next coronavirus relief package include the Cancer Drug Parity Act. The bill would improve access to oral drugs and help cancer patients stay home whenever it is medically feasible for them to do so.

We are thankful for the efforts of these Senators. View more about Senator Smith and Senator Moran’s efforts here. To let your Congressional Representatives know of your support for the Cancer Drug Parity Act during the COVID-19 pandemic, click the button below.
