Get the Most Joy Out of Each Day

Yolande Paine draws strength from being a Myeloma Warrior. At the Brian D. Novis Research Grant Awards reception, a night filled with hope held annually during the American Society of Hematology meeting, Yolande movingly described her experiences with the disease and the ways in which the IMF has supported her along the way. In this speech, she says, “But we Warriors stick together, and we share our optimism about what lies ahead.” Read more to learn how Yolande is an inspiration for us all.

Become a Consumer Reviewer As Part of a Department of Defense-Funded Program

We are seeking volunteers to help advance myeloma research! The Advocacy Team lobbied Congress to include blood cancers as a topic area in the DoD’s FY19 Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP). Now, myeloma researchers can apply for research funding grants through the program. The IMF can nominate myeloma patients and caregivers to apply. These patients and caregivers will act as consumer reviewers for the program.

Consumer reviewers are the voice of all myeloma patients. They help select which research proposals end up with funding. Consumer reviewers must:

  • be available for some travel mid-November 2019, and
  • prepare online for 4-5 weeks before traveling to the D.C. metro area.

The DoD will pay consumer reviewers a small stipend and will cover travel expenses. Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to get involved!

To learn more about this program, please email [email protected]. You must complete your application before April 10, 2019.
