European Commission Approves a Darzalex (Daratumumab) Drug Combination

The European Commission approved Darzalex® (daratumumab) in combination with bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (VTd) for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients who are eligible for autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). According to Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies, “This approval is based on results from part one of the phase III CASSIOPEIA (MMY3006) study, published in The Lancet in June 2019 and presented at the 2019 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting.”

FDA Grants Priority Review of Belantamab Mafodotin

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted a priority review for GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) Biologics License Application (BLA). GSK is “seeking approval of belantamab mafodotin (GSK2857916) for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma whose prior therapy included an immunomodulatory agent, a proteasome inhibitor and an anti-CD38 antibody.” This application is based on data “from DREAMM-2 (DRiving Excellence in Approaches to Multiple Myeloma) study, recently published in The Lancet Oncology.”

From March 13-14, 2020, the IMF will host a Patient & Family Seminar at the Boca Raton Marriott (5150 Town Center Circle) in Boca Raton, FL. Choose between two registration packages—either attend Friday’s half-day session and the all-day session Saturday, or attend the Saturday session only. Connect with other patients and caregivers. Together, we can learn, build community, and share our stories.

The IMF will host a Regional Community Workshop at The Westin (2221 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd North) in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Registration is FREE, but seating is limited. Learn from and meet one-on-one with myeloma experts to get answers to your questions and concerns.

Join in the fun and register for the 2nd Annual Walk for Myeloma Miracles at Central Park (11200 Base Line Rd.) in Rancho Cucamonga, California, on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Proceeds from the event will benefit the most promising research initiatives as well as patient support programs of the International Myeloma Foundation. Note: The event is not timed; it's a casual walk. The shortest distance on the trail is 2 miles, but participants can opt to go 5 miles. It is also bicycle-friendly.
