Coronavirus Crisis Point in America: FAQ for Myeloma Patients

As the novel coronavirus spreads across the U.S., avoiding exposure is critical for people living with myeloma. Weakened immune systems make them especially vulnerable to infection. IMF Chairman Dr. Brian G.M. Durie provides an FAQ for myeloma-specific guidance.

IMF Patient & Family Seminar in Boca Raton, Florida, Now Hosted Online Instead of In Person

The International Myeloma Foundation’s 2020 Patient & Family Seminar, held annually in Boca Raton, Florida, will be presented online instead of in person.

For those who are already registered for the Boca Raton seminar, you should have received an email. This email registers you for the online webinar at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 14.

Due to the change of the Boca PFS from a physical meeting to a web-based meeting, we are happy to:

  • Refund your registration fee.
  • Adjust your registration fee to be a donation.

IMF Regional Community Workshops Are Postponed
Now Is the Time to Share Your Stories of Resilience

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and the potential impact on the health and safety of myeloma patients, the IMF is postponing all in-person patient education meetings. The Regional Community Workshops in Birmingham, Alabama, and Kansas City, Kansas, have been postponed until further notice. Follow the IMF Events page for updates.

As of March 1, the International Myeloma Foundation launched our resilience-themed Myeloma Action Month campaign. Members of the myeloma community and beyond have been challenged to share their images and stories on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with the hashtag #IAMRESILIENT2020. Also, don’t miss your chance to get limited edition I AM RESILIENT t-shirts and pins here.

The International Myeloma Foundation Staff Working from Off-Site Locations

With the growing concerns over the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, the International Myeloma Foundation wants to ensure you have access to our resources. With a focus on the health and well-being of our staff, the IMF’s office will close on Friday, March 13, 2020. We will be monitoring the COVID situation and will keep you posted. However, we are still here for you! Our entire staff will be working from home and as always, we’re available.
