Myeloma Minute: Black Swan Research Initiative’s ASCENT Trial

ASCENT Trial Tests Earlier Intervention for High-Risk Smoldering Myeloma Patients

In his blog this week, IMF Chairman Dr. Brian Durie sheds light on the Black Swan Research Initiative® ASCENT clinical trial, which stands for Aggressive Smoldering Cure Evaluating Novel Rx Transplant.  Dr. Durie notes that trial participants, who have high-risk smoldering myeloma, will receive two years’ worth of intense therapy. In a video interview with IMF-TV, Dr.  Shaji Kumar (Mayo Clinic), lead investigator of the trial, says he hopes that researchers will be able to prove that it is safe to treat these patients and get them to MRD negative status.
