2019 IMWG Summit: Projects and Protocols Set the Standards of Treatment

More than 100 myeloma experts from around the world will gather in Amsterdam next month for the 10th Annual International Myeloma Working Group Summit. At the IMF’s carefully organized brainstorming session, busy researchers have a chance to step back and reassess goals and objectives. The collaboration and investigations that percolate here result in research that reverberates throughout the myeloma world.

IMF to Honor Cancer Researchers Meletios A. Dimopoulos, MD, and María-Victoria Mateos, MD, on June 11 in Amsterdam

The International Myeloma Foundation, the first and largest organization focusing specifically on multiple myeloma, will present the Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award to Meletios A. Dimopoulos, MD, and the Brian G.M. Durie Outstanding Achievement Award to María-Victoria Mateos, MD during the 2019 International Myeloma Working Group Summit, June 10-12. More than 100 international blood cancer experts will gather at the Summit in Amsterdam to collaborate on new multiple myeloma treatment guidelines and ongoing research projects aiming to cure this blood cancer. FDA and Oncopeptides AB In Discussion for Accelerated Approval of Melflufen

The FDA and Oncopeptides AB are reviewing the possibility of accelerated approval of melflufen for the treatment of patients with triple-class refractory multiple myeloma. This review is based on promising data from the ongoing phase II HORIZON clinical trial. “The target indication would be for the treatment of patients with relapsed refractory multiple myeloma whose disease is triple-class refractory (i.e. refractory to at least one IMiD, one proteasome inhibitor, and one anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody).”
