ASH 2016: Dr. Paul Richardson with Key Takeaways on Continued Advancements in Myeloma Care

Dr. Paul Richardson, Clinical Program Leader and Director of Clinical Research at the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Cancer Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, shares key takeaways for the treatment and management of myeloma from the 58th Annual American Society of Hematology Meeting. In this video, he says, “There has been continued progress, continued refinement of treatment strategies informed by important randomized trials, and continued advances in science.” He points to real advances in frontline therapy with new agents, excitement about immunotherapy, further refinement in the role of transplant, the drugs Selinexor and Venetoclax for the treatment of relapsed/refractory myeloma, and more.

A Cornucopia of Data with the Underlying Message of Hope

The International Myeloma Foundation brought 12 myeloma support group leaders who are living with myeloma to the 58th American Society of Hematology annual meeting in San Diego. Discover their lively blogs, interactive videos, photos, and tweets HERE. The dynamic leaders shared what they learned about the treatment and management of multiple myeloma at ASH 2016, and also related this information to their individual myeloma journeys. Perhaps support group leader Teresa Miceli described it best as a “cornucopia of data,” that offered knowledge, empowerment, and hope.
