IMF to Host 8th Annual International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) Summit

The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) will host the 8th Annual International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) Summit from June 19th–21st in Madrid, Spain. Nearly 100 of the world’s top myeloma experts will attend the 2017 Summit, which convenes on the eve of the 22nd Annual Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA). Throughout the Summit, myeloma experts will debate how best to treat patients in 2017 and beyond. Watch Dr. Brian G.M. Durie, Joseph Mikhael, and Maria V. IThe IMF Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) satellite symposium at the Oncology Nursing Summit (ONS) annual conference was attended by 835 nurses. Calling All Researchers: Submit Your Grant Applications!

The Brian D. Novis Research Grants honor the IMF’s founder Brian Novis, who died of multiple myeloma in July of 1992. The grants are awarded to researchers in the field of multiple myeloma and related disorders including SMM (smoldering multiple myeloma), MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance), and immunoglobulin-derived amyloidosis. The 2018 grants will fund senior research projects with $80,000 and junior research projects with $50,000. Tuesday, August1st, 2017, is the deadline for applications.

IMF to Host Regional Community Workshop in Buffalo, New York - June 17th, 2017

The IMF-sponsored Regional Community Workshop in Buffalo, NY, on June 17th is closed for pre-registration, however, walk-ins are welcome. The event will feature myeloma experts Dr. Philip McCarthy (Roswell Park Cancer Institute), Dr. Pallawi Torka (Roswell Park Cancer Institute), and Deborah Doss, RN, OCN (Dana Farber Cancer Institute).

IMF and a Leading French Myeloma Group Successfully Collaborate Once Again

Marking 15 years of collaboration, the IMF and the Association Française des Malades du Myélome Multiple hosted another successful Patient & Family Seminar in Paris, France. The event’s speakers included Drs. Brian Durie (Cedars-Sinai Hospital – Los Angeles), Jean-Luc Harousseau (University of Nantes – France), Dr. Xavier Leleu (Poitiers Hospital – France), and Mr. Daniel Chauvet from The Binding Site. Special guest Dr. Christoph Driessen (St. Gallen, Switzerland) presented positive news about the combination of bortezomib and nelfinavir. The attendees were eager to learn about sensitive topics such as new drugs and the challenges for access to these drugs in France. They also listened attentively to the latest updates from the Black Swan Research Initiative®.
